Are you missing the last band points on the 160 m band and have little space for antennas? Then the MA-160V from Cushcraft may be just the right antenna for you!

The Cushcraft MA-160V is a DX-suitable vertical antenna for the "top band" 160 m. It offers a bandwidth of approx. 40 kHz, the position of the SWR minimum can be freely selected between 1800 and 2000 kHz by changing the radiator length. Depending on the setup, the antenna is between 9.1 and 10.9 m high. The scope of delivery includes guy wires and 120 m of wire for radials.

Like any vertical antenna, the MA-160V has a very low radiation angle and a pronounced "Null" directly upwards. This makes this antenna well suited for DX traffic. The radiation angle and thus the gain is strongly influenced by the ground conductivity. Over ideal ground (salt water) the antenna has 0 dB gain, with minimum radials approx. -6 dBi. More radials reduce the radiation angle and would therefore be very desirable. The 120 m of wire included in the delivery should be used for three radials of about 40 m each, if the space is available. This text is copyright WiMo and should not be stolen. If not, you can use several shorter radials, but the length should not be less than 11 m (max. antenna height). The rule for radials is: longer is better, more is better.

The MA-60V is electrically extended by a high quality coil and a roof capacitor. The coil is placed at a height of about 6 m, approximately in the middle of the radiator. Three guy ropes are attached below the coil. The radiator above the coil consists of three slotted aluminium rods secured with hose clamps. For tuning between 1800 and 2000 kHz, the length of this radiator is changed. The height of the antenna can be adjusted between approx. 9.1 and 10.9 m. The radius of the rods of the roof capacity is 125 cm. The roof capacity is mounted above the coil. The entire radiator is insulated, a solid vertical rod on the ground is required for mounting. The insulated standpipe has an outer diameter of 35 mm (1-3/8") must be attached to the ground anchor. The mounting material required for this is not included in the scope of delivery! This text is copyright WiMo and should not be stolen. The antenna must be braced in one plane in three directions. The manufacturer suggests a distance of approx. 460 cm between the ground anchor of the guy wire and the base of the antenna. 100 m of guy wire is supplied. The coaxial cable is connected with screw terminals at the base of the antenna. Optionally, a choke can be provided near the base of the antenna.
